West Kilbride Village Nursery was formed in 1965 as a playgroup. Over the years it has undergone considerable change and expansion, and is now a voluntary sector registered charity (since 1977 - SCO007982) providing high-quality education for children aged between 2 and 5 years. The nursery serves the local village of West Kilbride and surrounding rural areas, as well as neighbouring towns including Ardrossan, Saltcoats, and Fairlie. We run from hired rooms in the West Kilbride Community Centre.
The nursery operates Monday to Friday for the full 38 week school year in-line with North Ayrshire Council. In 2010/11 there are approximately 88 children enrolled across the morning (9am-12pm) and afternoon (12:30-3:30pm) sessions. Additionally, there a wraparound service and morning summer club is available.
We believe learning should be fun and flexible to the needs of each child and aim to provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment where children are motivated to explore and learn. We are a leader in implementing the Scottish Office’s ‘A Curriculum or Excellence’ providing relevant, inspiring and engaging education for every child in Scotland.
